HSE MANAGEMENT

Occupational Health Management

Occupational health management is an integral part of our operations, as healthy work conditions have a strong motivational effect on the performance of an individual. Our strategy in health management prioritizes the reduction of occupational exposure and infectious disease risks during work execution. To ensure good health and industrial hygiene practices within the Company, we take all measures to prevent harm to the health of employees, contractors, visitors and local communities.

Company conducts pre-employment and regular medical check-ups for all employees proactively through a standard health examination protocol developed to cover all significant health parameters.

Health Risk Assessments

Health Risk Assessments are carried out where all workplace, product and environmental health hazards are identified, their risks assessed and a health plan is developed.
Safety Management

Safety is always given top priority in MGCL. We aim to have zero fatalities and no incidents that harm people, or put our neighbors or facilities at risk. To prevent incidents, we manage safety in a systematic way by increasing communication between the staff and the management through simpler and clearer requirements that are easier for people to understand and follow during work execution.

Strengthening our Safety Culture

Commitment to safety and development of safety culture in the organization is the first and vital ingredient in achieving excellence in safety performance. In MGCL, true commitment to the enhancement of safety means more than writing a policy statement and mentioning the importance of safety in speeches. We not only provide leadership but also develop, in partnership with staff and their representatives, the means of translating the safety goals of the organization into day to day reality.

Risk Management

We have a structured risk management process for identifying, assessing and ranking the impact and probability of potential operational hazards, then applying effective barriers and risk control measures. For all HSE-critical activities, the appropriate health, safety and environmental risk assessment are carried out, with a view to implementing control measures that eliminate or reduce the risks to a level as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP).

Incident Reporting & Investigation

To encourage employees to report unsafe conditions and practices MGCL has adopted a “No Blame” approach in responding to accidents and near misses. Incidents are analyzed, documented, and investigated & lessons learnt are shared among the staff in order to avoid reoccurrence of similar incidents. Recommendations from incident investigation are immediately implemented to prevent HSE incidents. The “No Blame” approach has ensured that there is excellent two-way communication between employees and management on HSEQ matters.

In 2010, we recorded best-ever combined employee and contractor workforce lost-time incident rates. Since 2007, through implementation of IMS and introducing HSE initiatives and programs have managed to achieve TRCF of 1.43 for the year 2010.

Environment Management

Using the advanced technology, exploring new ways of operating and partnerships are helping MGCL to manage our environmental impact as we contribute to meeting the world’s growing energy needs. We consider Environmental Risk Assessment early in new projects, develop Environmental Management action plans, and collaborate with Environmental experts to help protect areas with rich and sensitive eco-systems.
