Discovery in Mari Lease Area
During 2005 MGCL made another gas discovery in its Mari D&P lease area in Sui Main Limestone, Sui Upper Limestone and Pirkoh Limestone formations. The SML-1 exploratory well was spudded on February 16, 2005 and drilled down to T.D of 1,268 meters within a record period of 18 days. That was the first ever success in Pir Koh Limestone in the country. The well was completed successfully and is capable to produce around 6 MMSCFD from three formations.

Discovery in Balochistan
Highly progressive and ambitious exploration activities have resulted in achieving one more milestone for the Company with the discovery of good quality gas at its Ziarat Exploratory Well-1, south east of Quetta, in Baluchistan province. The well encountered gas in Dunshan formation and was tested at 6.9 MMSCFD which is expected to increase after the planned acid-treatment job. More wells are being planned to appraise the gas reserves. MGCL is operator in this block with 60% interest. The other JV partner is MND, a Czech outfit with 40% stake.
